What are they fried in?
100% rice bran oil! High smoke point for a high-heat, perfectly toasty-edged doughnut.

I had one of your doughnuts and it seemed… burnt. WTF?
It’s intentional! I fry these bbs HARD since I’m about that Maillard reaction. Think of it like a perfectly burnt marshmallow, and that might shift your experience and expectations. If you’re disappointed, I recommend trying a non-doughnut treat (cinnamon buns are brown butter glazed and use the same dough, but they’re baked instead of fried).

Will you do a batch of more lightly fried ones for me?
Nope!

I have an event coming up and am in need of 50+ doughnuts. Can you make that happen?
I’d love to work with you to make your doughnut event dreams come true! Shoot me an email with your event date and time as well as the number of doughnuts you’d like, and I’ll get back to ya shortly to talk about flavors, delivery, and other potential needs! I’m not currently set up to make a beautiful doughnut display— and frankly, aesthetics when it comes to food design aren’t my strong suit— but boy-oh-boy do I have boxes that’ll cradle your doughnz until you’re ready to display ‘em.

Do you do custom flavors?
For large orders, I’m happy to work out a custom flavor (or a few) for you!

It’s Friday, and I see you’re doing doughnut pre-orders for pick up this weekend. Can I put an order in for later today/tomorrow?
Nope! These doughnuts are truly a labor of love, and given that they are time-intensive, the Wednesday deadline is firm.

Can I just get one or two doughnuts?
When weekend pre-orders are open, there is a six doughnut minimum. Come visit me at the Midtown Farmers Market on some Saturdays this summer as well as Kingfield Farmers Market every few Sundays for your single treat needs!

For non-doughnut orders (cakes, pies, etc.), how far in advance do I need to place my order?
If you have a specific date in mind, shoot me an email as soon as ya know so I can mark my calendar. A week’s notice is nice, and two weeks’ notice super rules. Ultimately though, if you hit me up 24-36 hours before you need a cake, I might be able to do it! While chances are I’ll say, “sorry, I can’t” to those super last minute orders, I’ve also had plenty of situations where I’ve been able to make a short-notice treat or two! Keep in mind that I’m one human doing many farmers markets at the moment, so I’m not as available for your custom delights.

What’s the accessibility of your home like for when I pick up my order?
There is a 48” wide opening in my fence with a flat, concrete pathway that leads to five concrete steps up to the front door. The steps have one railing on the left side if going up (on the right if going down). The front door is 36” wide and has a small lip on the bottom, and there is an inner 36” front door about 3 feet in from the first. My home has a dog and a cat. The cat is generally put away during doughnut pick-ups, but I frequently have the dog out and about (if you prefer not to share any space with my dog and/or cat, just say so in your email and I’ll keep them upstairs). I’m happy to bring doughnuts (or whatever treat) out to you or your vehicle if any of these things are prohibitive for you!

How are those doughnuts so good?!
A combination of technique, love, and indigenous yeast. These doughnuts are laminated and made with sourdough, which means they’ve got a little extra lift, texture, and flavor. They’re fried hard to get a crispy burnt edge around the soft and moist dough, the mild bitterness of the burn balancing out the glaze’s sweetness. With buttery layers like a croissant, a flavor that develops as you eat them, and that extra somethin’ wonderful from the eggy brioche dough, it’s a pretty dang magical doughnut. Fun fact: I didn’t particularly like doughnuts until I started making these.

Do you deliver?
Usually not, but I’m open to it! The delivery fee is $10 (because I’m worth it/because I could be napping) within a 4 mile radius of my house. Keep in mind that I won’t be available to deliver on market days or during pre-order pick-up hours.
